Another crazy week of reporting. This week focused more on digital stories and lots of planning for the upcoming weeks.
Best news of the week: The mechanical chicken wing is back at this year's wing fest. You can ride a chicken wing like a bull. You can't get more Buffalo than this... unless it's snowing in September. The National Buffalo Chicken Wing Fest will be over Labor Day weekend and my parents are coming to experience the deliciousness. Let's Go!
Speaking of Chicken... Loose Cannon food truck is frying up a hot chicken sandwich that people are loving. I did a Taste & See Video on the new food truck and it amazes me the quality and quantity food truck chefs can produce with such limited space. I'm a wimp when it comes to spice but this sandwich was delicious. They ran out of chicken the night my video aired!
The great thing about each week is how I've noticed there is a theme of the week. This week was chicken, last week was old people with the love story of Tony & Pat and the senior fitness video, and the week before was corn stories. I don't know how long this will last but it's amusing.
I also have to mention the story Channel 7 broke about the abuse scandal of the Buffalo Catholic Diocese. Our chief investigative reporter Charlie Specht spent months researching Buffalo's Bishop Malone and how he was apart of the abuse cover up. Charlie and editor Jeff Wick created two nine minute explosive pieces of journalism. I respect their work so much and all the time they spent going through documents and trying to figure out what exactly happened. It was really a fantastic job and reassured me how important great reporting is.
